We're thrilled to announce that Peter Wozny, who heads our legal and communications teams, has been named an Outstanding Executive Role Model for his incredible work in driving inclusion across the LGBT+ community.
Peter, a tireless advocate for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) within the LGBT+ community and beyond, is featured in INvolve’s 2024 Outstanding Role Model Lists, supported by YouTube.
His contribution to inclusion at BTV, BAT and the venture capital world throughout his career can’t be understated. We’re extremely proud of Peter and are inspired by the great work he does every day.
Since joining BTV in 2020, Peter has been instrumental in driving DEI initiatives for both BTV and BAT, and has led BTV’s DEI strategy, establishing KPIs across our investment portfolio by advising on new policy implementation and recruitment improvements.
Founder & CEO of INvolve, a DEI consultancy and global network, Suki Sandhu OBE, says:
"LGBT+ and advocate Role Models remain vital for driving tangible, long term inclusion for LGBT+ individuals across the world.
“The individuals featured within the Outstanding Role Model Lists are all trailblazers who are driving impactful initiatives and strategic change within their organisations and across wider society. I am so thrilled to be able to showcase and celebrate their achievements through this year's Outstanding Role Model Lists, and I look forward to seeing the continued positive impact these Role Models will make for global LGBT+ inclusion."
Other recipients of the Outstanding Role Models award include David Furnish, CEO and Chair of the Rocket Entertainment Group and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Peter says:
"I feel deeply honoured to be recognised for the work I do across the community and to be listed in the Outstanding Executives Role Model List. Since the start of my career and despite numerous obstacles, I have always strived to ensure everyone feels included in the workplace so they can achieve their full potential, but also to support those who need help and to give back through the non-profit and charitable sector. This achievement inspires me to continue the work I do - to build an inclusive culture where everyone can be true to themselves and live their best lives.
“Being global companies, I feel that BTV and BAT have a responsibility to help drive change in those communities where you are unable to be true to yourself and love who you want. Ultimately, it’s in our interests to improve inclusion, as a more diverse and inclusive workplace not only ensures greater retention of your workforce, but it brings greater innovation and productivity for the company. Being stronger together, we can help overcome the many challenges the LGBT+ community faces, and in my role as co-lead for B United, BAT’s LGBT+ employee resource group, I believe we can be a catalyst for this change and continue supporting and educating those who need it.”
Since 2024, Peter has also served as co-chair of BAT’s global LGBT+ employee network, B United, fostering a safe environment for colleagues, mentoring talent and organising events (such as London Pride). Peter's advocacy extends beyond BAT through his volunteering and trustee work with charities including LIFEbeat, supporting diverse and disadvantaged young people across the UK, and the National HIV Story Trust, helping raise awareness of HIV and AIDs and its impact across society in the 1980s and 1990s. He also supports LGBT+ founders through partnerships with Diversity VC and Culture Shift Labs, mentoring entrepreneurs, and though various speaking engagements.
With more than 15 years of international legal experience and having worked in London, Moscow, Shanghai and the U.S., Peter continues to drive change and support the LGBT+ community globally.
INvolve’s Outstanding Role Model Lists champion LGBT+ Executives, LGBT+ Future Leaders and Advocates for LGBT+ talent in business. The individuals featured span 25 countries and represent the most impactful and innovative work being done for inclusion of LGBT+ employees across the globe, providing a benchmark from which global progress can be achieved.
Congratulations Peter, we always knew you were outstanding and now it's official!
